In a recent interview with The5ers, Tom, a 32-year-old trader from the Netherlands, shared his journey from head chef to high-stakes trader. Tom, one of The5ers’ $125K High-Stakes funded traders, has been trading full-time for five years and has successfully received $3,009 in payouts from the firm. His next goal is to achieve a 10% gain to scale his account to $150K.

Tom’s trading strategy is heavily influenced by ICT concepts. He starts by determining the higher timeframe bias and then looks for optimal times during the week to align with premium or discount levels for buying or selling. His entries are based on Optimal Trade Entry (OTE) levels and Fair Value Gaps (FVGs) after ensuring alignment across timeframes.

Moreover, one of the biggest challenges Tom faced in his trading career was the psychological aspect. “Psychology is the hardest part. Not rushing the process was the hardest part,” he admitted. He emphasized the importance of patience and waiting for ideal conditions to present themselves rather than feeling the need to trade every day.

Also, Tom keeps his risk management conservative, typically risking between 0.5% to 1.0% per trade. A pivotal moment in his career was realizing the importance of aligning the higher timeframe with his daily bias, which taught him the value of patience and strategic timing in trading.
