The5%ers recently featured funded trader Diyar in a new interview discussing his journey from arriving in the UK as a refugee to becoming a profitable trader managing funded accounts.
Originally from Kurdistan, Iraq, Diyar moved to the United Kingdom in 2016. During the interview, he described the financial difficulties he faced after arriving in the country, including being unable to work at the time. He said his introduction to trading began in 2019 through cryptocurrency markets after making his first profit on Ethereum.

Diyar explained that his early trading journey involved testing multiple strategies and concepts commonly discussed online, including ICT, support and resistance, moving averages, stochastic indicators, and smart money concepts. According to him, the turning point came when he stopped searching for a “holy grail” strategy and began treating trading as a business built around probabilities and risk management.
Rather than relying on traditional market analysis, Diyar described himself as a fully mechanical trader focused on identifying repeated market patterns, particularly on indices such as DAX and NASDAQ. He stated that his approach is based on observing recurring price behavior at specific times during the trading session and executing trades systematically.
During the interview, Diyar shared one of his core trading beliefs: “Trading is a business. You win, and you lose. You don’t have to win every day or on every trade.”
He also emphasized the importance of accepting losses as part of the process, adding that traders should aim to “become a master of losing rather than mastering winning trades.”
