In a recent interview with TopTier Trader, Steve Ramos, one of the firm’s most successful funded traders, shared his inspiring journey from high school athlete to accomplished trader.

Ramos’ story begins in high school, where he is deeply involved in sports such as football, soccer, and track. Despite his athletic prowess and the opportunity for a scholarship, life had different plans. “You know, you’re young and rebellious, so things didn’t work out,” Ramos reflects.

Ramos began his trading journey nearly seven years ago. The first three years were marked by inconsistency and frequent setbacks. “I wasn’t consistent with learning about trading. I just threw money in and blew accounts,” he admits. However, a turning point came when he decided to take trading seriously, enrolling in courses and seeking mentorship to master the psychological aspects of trading.

One of the key factors in Ramos’ success has been his focus on trading psychology. “My mentor introduced me to meditation, which I do every morning before trading. It helped tremendously,” he shares. This practice, along with a renewed focus on physical fitness, has contributed to his disciplined approach to trading.

Ramos also discussed the impact of his personal life on his trading journey. As a young father, his daughter has been a significant source of motivation. “She’s my motivation. In the beginning, it was harder because I had to provide for her. But I made sure to have money set aside for trading. I stayed consistent, and it paid off,” he says.

Ramos has developed a successful trading strategy focused on supply and demand and trends, avoiding trading during news events due to the risks of slippage. He now mentors other aspiring traders, emphasizing the importance of consistency and proper risk management. “Teaching others has made me more disciplined, especially with risk-to-reward ratios,” he explains.
