Leveraged Interview: Petrit Journey to Almost $14K in Payouts

In an interview with Leveraged, trader Petrit discussed his journey through the forex prop trading industry, revealing how a shift toward tighter risk management, fewer trades, and a more structured routine helped him reach almost $14,000 in payouts.

Petrit said he began trading after the pandemic, initially spending years experimenting with different strategies, indicators, and prop firms. He described this period as a learning process, comparing his losses and trading expenses to a form of tuition.

Leveraged Interview: Petrit Shares His Journey to Almost $14K in Payouts

According to Petrit, traditional prop firm models that required traders to complete multiple evaluation phases created significant pressure. His experience changed after discovering Leveraged and its Turbo account, which he highlighted as a faster route to a live account.

Petrit said the account’s $8.88 entry price and activation payment after passing were among the factors that attracted him to the model. He subsequently passed the account and began trading under Leveraged’s rules.

A key part of his approach has been consistency. Petrit said that Leveraged’s trading rules, including its consistency requirements, encouraged him to avoid relying on a single highly profitable trading day. He said he incorporated the firm’s rules into his own strategy rather than treating them as separate from his trading process.

Petrit Trades Gold Exclusively

Petrit also revealed that he has focused almost exclusively on gold throughout his trading career.

Rather than trading multiple currency pairs or markets, he said he has only traded gold since beginning his journey. His approach is deliberately limited, with generally one or two trades per day.

Petrit trades primarily during the London and New York sessions and avoids the Asian session. He also said he is not a full-time trader and currently works around 10 hours, arguing that having too much free time previously led him to make unnecessary trading decisions.

For him, having defined trading windows has become an important part of maintaining discipline.

Cutting Losses Became Central to His Approach

Petrit identified psychology and loss management as two of the most important aspects of his development as a trader.

He explained that one of the lessons he eventually learned was to shorten his losses rather than allowing losing positions to remain open in the hope that the market would reverse.

According to Petrit, traders can become increasingly emotional when they hold losing positions for too long. He believes that controlling losses allows traders to protect the profits generated by successful trades.

He also described reducing the number of trades he takes as a major turning point. Instead of trading simply for the sake of being in the market, he now waits for his strategy to provide a setup during his predefined trading hours.

Five Payouts and a Goal of Monthly Withdrawals

Petrit has received five payouts from Leveraged, totaling almost $14,000, according to the interview.

He said his payouts came in March, April, May, August, and September, with June being the only month during that period in which he did not receive a payout. At one point, he set himself the goal of receiving a payout every month until the end of the year.

Petrit acknowledged that the goal was not achieved every month but said the experience reinforced the importance of responding to what the market actually provides rather than forcing trades to meet a predetermined target.

He also said that one of his longer-term goals is to continue building on the results after taking a break from trading around his upcoming wedding.

Petrit’s Advice to New Traders

Asked what advice he would give to someone entering prop trading, Petrit emphasized individual responsibility and learning from losses.

He argued that traders should avoid becoming overly dependent on groups, courses, or other people’s opinions and instead develop their own understanding of the market.

While he acknowledged that a mentor can potentially help traders avoid some mistakes and shorten the learning process, he said traders ultimately need to learn from their own experiences.

For Petrit, trading is fundamentally a mental game, and excessive information can create confusion rather than clarity.

His experience with Leveraged reflects a trading approach built around a narrow market focus, limited trading hours, fewer positions, and an emphasis on managing losses. After almost $14,000 in payouts, Petrit now plans to take a break for his wedding before returning to trading and pursuing further payouts.
