Conrad Janse Van Rensburg, a seasoned trader, recently sat down for an interview to discuss his experiences and journey with FundedNext. Having started his trading journey in 2019, Conrad revealed the challenges he faced, his strategies, and the evolution of his trading approach over the years.
Conrad, who initially ventured into Bitcoin mining, transitioned into active trading when market conditions and local challenges, such as power issues in South Africa, prompted him to seek alternatives. “We had invested heavily in a Bitcoin mining facility, but as Bitcoin’s value fluctuated and with local electricity problems, I started exploring other opportunities in trading,” said Conrad.

His first trade, made through a signal provider, brought a net profit of 3.61 Bitcoin. However, the initial success was short-lived, as he acknowledged that he lacked the necessary experience. Determined to succeed, Conrad took a bold step, moving to London for six months to pursue a diploma in financial trading at the London Academy of Trading.
Since then, Conrad has embraced a disciplined approach, utilizing a five-minute chart strategy that aligns with his personality. “I realized I had to match my trading strategy with my personality. I’m not suited to long-hour charts—it’s just too boring for me,” he shared.
He attributes much of his recent success to Al Brooks’ price action trading courses, which have provided him with invaluable insights into market behavior. “Price action trading has been a game-changer for me. It’s about understanding the context of the market and developing a playbook of strategies that work.”
Currently, Conrad trades both the DAX and Dow indices, with a typical day consisting of alternating between managing his business and trading. He highlighted the importance of not multitasking between activities to avoid becoming “a jack of all trades and master of none.”
