In an exclusive FundedNext interview, Maalik, a 24-year-old part-time trader, shared his journey and strategies in the world of trading. With a passion for trading that rivals his love for dancing, Maalik aims to transition to full-time trading, finding it ten times more exciting than his current profession.
Maalik began his trading journey over a year ago, starting with pairs like GBP/JPY and GU, but found them too volatile for a beginner. Now, he focuses on indices such as US30 and NAS100, appreciating their more predictable movements. He primarily trades using a strategy centered around the concept of breaker blocks, derived from the teachings of ICT.
Maalik’s strategy involves identifying higher time frame points of interest, liquidity sweeps, and specific time frames he calls macros. His favorite macro times are between 9:50-10:10 and 10:50-11:10 New York time. During these periods, he looks for quick movements in the market, allowing him to enter and exit trades efficiently. He combines this time-based approach with the breaker block strategy, focusing on failed order blocks and their role in price displacement and reversal.
Utilizing MT5 for its speed and reliability, Maalik uses indicators to display fair value gaps and macro times. He prefers manual entries and watching price behavior at critical points before committing to a trade. His risk management strategy involves risking 0.5% per trade, aiming for a risk-reward ratio of 1:2 or 1:3, and moving stop losses to break even once trades are in profit.
Currently going through an evaluation with FundedNext, he appreciates their support and the opportunity they provide for traders without significant capital to trade with prop accounts.
While suggests the introduction of a VIP program for instant withdrawals and the development of a mobile application to enhance accessibility. He also praises the competitive spreads and minimal slippage on US30 and NAS100, enhancing his trading experience.
