Nguyen began trading in 2018, initially focusing on cryptocurrency. However, he eventually transitioned to forex and later found consistency in trading gold. “Crypto was too volatile for my style. Gold allowed me to develop a clearer strategy and improve my decision-making,” he said.
His trading plan revolves around a breakout strategy. Nguyen uses alerts on TradingView to monitor key levels and then switches to a smaller time frame to assess whether to take a full or half position. “I adjust my risk depending on market conditions—1.5–2% if the market is stable, and 1–1.5% when it’s aggressive,” he explained.
A pivotal moment in his journey came when he realized that success isn’t about copying strategies online. “Knowledge only becomes useful after personal backtesting. I had to understand concepts in my own way.”
Nguyen’s strength lies in his psychological discipline. He spends time in self-reflection, asking deep questions and avoiding comparisons with others. “I just want to improve every day, make fewer decisions, and stay true to my process.”
His approach to The5%ers’ evaluation was built on risk control and trend continuation. “I move my stop loss to break even, add smaller positions in the trend’s direction, and if it doesn’t work out, I accept the loss and try again the next day.”
